Isabel S

Isabel is currently an undergraduate at the University of St Andrews, studying English. Her current areas of interest are in postcolonial literature and female figures in Romantic literature.

Isabel attained A grades in both English Literature and Philosophy at A-Level, and was also the recipient of the 2025 academic award for Philosophy at Harris Westminster Sixth Form. Prior to this, at Kingsdale Foundation School, she completed 12 GCSEs, achieving five grade 9s (including English Language, English Literature, French, etc.) and five grade 8s (including Biology, Psychology, etc.). Isabel was also a finalist for the Northwestern University essay competition for her piece on the lack of modern climate fiction.

Isabel will have students walk through their initial understanding of a work before encouraging them to consider a range of diverse interpretations of the text through the introduction of various contextual and linguistic features. We will then condense these discussions into a coherent line of thought. This approach encourages creative responses to texts and, thus, a greater engagement with the material.

Isabel can teach the following subjects:

  • Biology: GCSE.
  • English (Language): GCSE & A-Level.
  • History: GCSE
  • Philosophy: A-Level.
  • Psychology: GCSE.
  • Religious Studies: GCSE
  • Spanish: GCSE.
